In 1967, Beatles expressed their desire to buy an island in Greece in order to turn it into a community for the Hippies. According to Paul McCartney and his autobiography, the reason they wanted to buy the island was because “no one could tell you not to smoke”!
The island Beatles wanted to buy is “Agia Triada” in Evia, about an hour from Athens.
The special thing about this small island is that it looks like a guitar and that was probably the most important reason they wanted to buy this island, which in the end, never happened.
