
On 47 BC the Roman Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar won the battle against Farnakis II King of Pontus. As the Roman victory came quickly, Caesar wanted to emphasize this fact very strongly. So he wrote only three words:
“Veni, vidi, vici” = I came, I saw, I conquered
Since then, the phrase of July Caesar has remained in history, and is still used quite often today.
A well-known use of the phrase has also been made by a well-known tobacco industry, which has used it in its logo.
